Hi Larry,
Most of the walleyes that I caught were on a jig with some color of twistertail and 1/3 of a leech. The best color seemed to vary from day to day. Some days pink and white were best while others it was orange and yellow or chartruse and white. We also used a jig and minnow and that worked good too, as well as a jig and part of a crawlers. We also caught many walleyes on large floating jig heads with leeches or crawlers. Almost all of the walleyes we caught were in 5 to 10 feet of water, with the majority of those in about 6 feet. We tried some water up to maybe 17 feet deep with little or no luck so went back to fishing shallow.

two of us fished whitelaw the same week, we had good luck on walleye, but were not able to find many big eyes. what methods did you use and how deep, just curious. we did jig and minnow but did not work deep water.

good question...... well, there are a few reasons. first is that Barry took all the pics and he is very good at getting the perfect angle to make the fish look as big as they can. Second, I am smaller than the other guys. Third, my two big walleyes were very nice solid fat fish and were the 2nd and third biggest walleyes of the trip. John did get the longest one, but he didn't get a very good pic of that one. long story.... wish I would have been with him to have taken pics.
